Sixty years ago, James E. Hanson demonstrated an uncanny ability to succeed in real estate in all kinds of economic environments. He passed his skills on to his son, Jon F. Hanson, who augmented his father’s investment philosophy and created the Hampshire Companies in 1976. 

Today, Hampshire is led by a third generation with James E. Hanson II as president and CEO. HRE is now a broad-based national real estate operator, real estate management services provider, investor and fund manager, and Mr. Hanson is leading the company to even greater heights as HRE goes global with its investor base. 

HRE manages private funds with more than a billion dollars in assets, owning and operating portfolios comprising hundreds of properties in multiple states – a total of more than 20 million square feet.
